What did I #Study Through this Erasmus Year in Spain?
I've got many things through this Erasmus course. Especially the Screenwriting class was really helped me. As I mentioned before post, I have a little bit worried about how to write a script. Basically, my course is media production. In this course, a script takes up many parts. Production and post-production is also important. But, if we have no idea of a script, we can not make any video. When I was 1.2 years I don't know how to write a script well and how to make a good script. So I really wanna get this course. So, I planned this and it was a good chance for me. I'm so happy I got this course.
In the class, my tutor showed a video to everyone. Because this week was the Film Festival week. Surprisingly, it was a Korean Short Film. I didn't need any subtitles. The Film was about a transgender who needs to go army. In Korea, the only men must go to the army when they get olds over 20. Except for someone who has an injury or disease. So, in this film, the man arrives at the army hospital to examining the test that he can go to the army or not. He has to go army. He has great body condition. However, he is transgender. So, he tries to provide he is a woman now. It showed our stereotype and criticize our disregard of LGBTQIA(Sexual Minority). It touched me very deeply. Good Idea and well-done story. I'm very proud of this film and I wanna make this short film. There were many films at this Film Festival. But sadly, I couldn't understand. It was all Spanish and no subtitles. The tutor explained what was the movie and what should we focus on. He said Script is basic of all movies. Even if a movie looks good and well organized, if it has a bad script line, it can't be a good movie. I really agreed with his opinion. When I tried to make a film at Coventry University, I and my team had the skills to do production and post-production but we had no idea to make a script, and hard to organized good ideas. Making a Script is the first step of the film and it is very important to progress in a film. And that is the reason why I choose this course. I wanna make a good film but I need to get the skill to make a good script. I hope I get how to make a script well and organized my ideas.
Through this semester, I've got how to make a script properly. First, he taught us how to get an idea. He said whatever it is, better than blank. Just get started even if it is bad or just one word. Also, he doesn't know how to get an idea. 'An idea is coming when you are ready to get it. I really like this sentence. Sometimes an idea just comes into my head. Whenever and wherever it is. Like when we are driving a car or doing shopping. But the important thing is I'm ready to get that. When the ideas are coming up, then I need to write them down. It can be a great element for a script. An idea is the smallest element. Second, an Idea can be a Situation, Premise, and Theme. What situation or how is going to be a whole story or Is it romance, action, thriller something like that. The Idea starts from here. He said a Mind map is good to collect all ideas. So, I tried to link my ideas. Anything and everything can be linked. I linked with baby and room, card, and tissue. It worked. It gave me more ideas and the ideas made a story. Also, He taught us how to lead this whole story slightly. An idea shouldn't be a spectacle and big scripts like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings. A simple and normal story can be a good film. Don't get pressure the story should have many people and many connections. Just one person can be one main character. After that, We learned how to make a story to script. We need to find a detail of the scene. He said just first, separate big part and then get into the small sense. For example, in this scene what do you want to show, How many people are here, Who is talking and What are they doing?

This made my script well organized. Also, I learned about the form of screenwriting. There is a website called the Celex. It's good for writing a script. It is perfect and I love it. Through this progress, I can finish a script and I'm gonna make this script for a film soon. I'm so happy I finished the script due to the perfect process. This session was really helped me.
My course assignment submission was coming, It is called media and communication. I studied and researched Irish Cinema and Irish Directors. The Assignment topic is choosing one country that has not famous cinema industry. I had a great memory of Ireland. I've been 3 times before, Ireland was very impressed me. I went Film Museum in Ireland, so I think this is a perfect topic for this project. I read many books and researches. It was a very wealthy time getting knowledge about Ireland Cinema and history. I've got 74% for this assignment.
Also, the interview assignment made me excited. I haven't done this assignment before. It's good for me to get different and various methods of assignment. Because, Truthfully, In Coventry university, I had assignments as a video or picture practical things. The essay or theoretical part is very small. The Interview project about my parents or grandparents who have Past Media Memory and Experienced. I tried to get an interview from my grandma but sadly she doesn't know how to write it down on the laptop and we can't meet right now. Therefore, I asked my mom to answer these questions. The interview progressed by call and it was in Korean. I translated it into English and changed it to a document later. As you know, I don't know well about Past Media. I'm a person who is living in the digital media generation. My mom had a lot of experiences with Past Media. She saw when the first TV come out. It was black and white. She hasn't even ever thought about we can watch the TV drama and movie on the smartphone. It was a great time to talk with my mom and get information that I haven't noticed yet. Also, I was thinking I can tell my daughter about my generation's digital media. It could be fun like me and my mom. It doesn't feel like an assignment, it's like exciting media story travel with my mom.
This is my seminar class coursework. I haven't done it this before. I learned how to divide scenes. It was quite complicated and took a long time. It made me bored. But when I've done it, I know why we should do this. I got it this breakdown scene helps me how to make a film. When I make a film, I need to make a scene breakdown like this. What kind of sauce and editing way should I put in this scene. Think about the detail of the scene. It gives me more concentration on each scene and also, the accuracy of scene elements. This really helps script breakdown that I'm in right now.
This is a group work to make a short film. We made a script as a team and completed a short film. But we had a topic line: family. We should put in about Family. That time, we were almost getting to Christmas, we decided to connect it. We used the Celex website that I learned in my ScreenWriting class. That is worth it here. Also, the knowledge I learned in class gives me the skills to organize this script very easily and smoothly. We shared the script together and edit it. Due to Covid 19, we planned we are not gonna meet together to make a film. There is a member who is not in Spain besides. We tried to get footage on their own and collected it when we are doing editing. It was not a bad idea. It made us safe in this situation. And tutor also accepted this. Other members haven't made any film. They didn't know how to start it. It is a good advantage for me. These are things that I learned at Coventry University. I taught them and I made a script breakdown and storyboard for my team.
