1. Criticality is related to the thinking and development of cognitive skills like analysis evaluation. It’s not just observing and describing, It is about using and questioning information.

2. I’m a sound designer in the short film project. George Lucas once said, “Sound is 50 percent of the movie-going experience”. We can tell a lot about a scene through the subtlest of sounds, the story isn’t always told through visual elements.

For example, in this scene of getting Out where the main character is being hypnotized, we are first shown that the teacup is used to put people in a trance. As the scene progresses, we are focused on the character’s faces but the sound of the swirling spoon in the teacup continues. Also, when the main character is put in the “sunken place” the use of sound is what made it so intense.

Through this criticality research,

I’ll be using sound to elevate the scene in my short film. There is a really important scene where the Main character starts performing surgery. The scene will not show the surgical table but instead just the surgeon. The rest of the scene will be comprised of sound to make the audience feel a certain way.

3. it is Just Ideas. ideas are about change.

4. Creativity changed me in a way I have never expected before. I get inspired by a lot of things and every time I come up with an idea, I note it down in my notebook. When I dream of something interesting, dark or intense I always try my best to note it down as soon as I wake up because you never know if something good. Ideas can spring to mind at any time, whether I’m cleaning my room or rushing to my 9am a lecture, either way, I always have my notebook close.

For my experimental film, I wanted to shoot a woman slowly painting her face but then get frustrated because it wasn’t perfect. I wanna show her inside the mind confused. I came up with the idea from my notebook. This creativity changed me thinking differently and also changed my challenge different way I haven’t been.
